Maladaptive thoughts and behaviors are due to chemical imbalances in our brain and body. As time advanced, neuroscience has proved it. 

Time has come that as enlightened individuals we start accepting the scientific facts.

Stress, anxiety, depression, anger, jealousy, holding grudges, quarreling, telling lies frequently and being dishonest are results of  malfunctioning of brain. 

Rather than blaming it on a fictional character and being stuck in mythological fairytales, we need to wake up from our deep slumber and critically evaluate ourselves. This would enable us to develop a good relationship with ourselves and others.
